We’re excited to share our first speaker for WordCamp Slovenia 2026 — please welcome Remkus de Vries.
Remkus is one of those people in the WordPress world who has been around long enough to truly understand how the ecosystem works, not just in theory, but in practice. He has been working with WordPress since 2005, helping companies and developers build faster, more scalable, and more reliable websites.
If you’ve ever attended a WordCamp in Europe, there’s a good chance you’ve already come across his work. He is one of the co-founders of WordCamp Europe and has spent years contributing to the community in different ways, from organizing events and supporting others to sharing knowledge through talks, content, and education.
What makes Remkus stand out is his ability to connect technical depth with real-world application. His focus is on performance, scalability, and long-term stability, the things that actually make a difference once a project goes beyond the basics. He doesn’t just talk about what works, but why it works, and how to approach WordPress in a more sustainable way.
At WordCamp Slovenia, Remkus will present: “WordPress Performance: What You’re Still Getting Wrong”
In this talk, he challenges the usual way we think about performance. It’s not just about Core Web Vitals, caching, or faster hosting — it’s about how teams build, how they understand WordPress, and how they use modern tools, including AI, to work smarter. Performance, in this sense, becomes a strategic advantage, not just a technical metric.

We’re especially excited to have him in Ljubljana because he brings both experience and perspective, the kind that helps you look at your own projects differently.

This is just the beginning — more speakers will be announced soon.
See you in Ljubljana on May 16, 2026. 🚀
