If you’re visiting Ljubljana for WordCamp Slovenia 2026, getting around the city is thankfully quite simple. Ljubljana is a compact, walkable city with good public transport, plenty of parking options, and beautiful riverside paths connecting many parts of the city.

Since many attendees and speakers asked about parking, public transport, and how to get to the venue — here’s a quick guide to help you navigate the city a bit easier.

How to Get to the Venue (MAO / Fužine Castle)

WordCamp Slovenia 2026 takes place at Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO), Rusjanov trg 7, 1000 Ljubljana. The venue is located slightly outside the strict city center, right next to the Ljubljanica river, and is very easy to reach.

By Bus

The closest bus stop is Rusjanov trg, served by several Ljubljana city bus lines:

– Line 20
– Line 22
– Line 25

Public transport in Ljubljana is reliable and easy to use, especially if you’re staying near the city center.

More info HERE.

By Foot or Bicycle

One of the nicest ways to reach the venue is actually by walking or cycling along the Ljubljanica river. A beautiful riverside walking and cycling path connects the city center with Fužine Castle, making the trip itself part of the experience — especially in May, when Ljubljana is at its best. If you enjoy exploring cities on foot, this is highly recommended.

Parking in Ljubljana

Parking in the very center of Ljubljana can sometimes be limited or expensive, especially during weekends and events. Because of that, we strongly recommend using Ljubljana’s P+R (Park & Ride) system if you’re arriving by car. The system allows you to park your vehicle on the outskirts of the city and continue into Ljubljana by bus.

More info about P+R locations can be found HERE. Some of the most convenient P+R options for visitors include:

– Stožice
– Barje
– Dolgi most
– Studenec

Parking Near the Venue

There are also parking options available around Fužine Castle and the surrounding area. Depending on availability, you can often find free or public parking spots within walking distance of the venue. Please note that availability may vary during the weekend, so arriving a bit earlier is always a good idea.

The venue also provides accessible parking, an accessible path from parking/public transport, and an accessible entrance for visitors with mobility impairments.

Avant2Go

The venue parking area is also an official Avant2Go location, meaning attendees using Avant2Go electric car sharing can pick up or return vehicles directly at MAO. More info HERE.

Explore Ljubljana

If you’re staying for the weekend, take some extra time to explore the city. Ljubljana is known for its relaxed atmosphere, walkable center, riverside cafés, and green spaces — and most locations are surprisingly close to one another.

Whether you arrive by bus, bike, car, or on foot, we hope getting around Ljubljana will be easy and enjoyable during your WordCamp experience.

See you at Fužine Castle on May 16, 2026 🚀
