Isotta leads WordPress Credits, a program by the WordPress Foundation that connects students with the WordPress ecosystem through hands-on open source contributions. Her work focuses on bridging the gap between education and real-world experience, helping new generations build practical skills while becoming part of a global community.
Beyond WordPress Credits, she is actively involved in initiatives that promote education, inclusion, and accessibility within the WordPress space. Her perspective brings something especially valuable to WordCamps — a look at how we grow not just the platform, but the people behind it.
At WordCamp Slovenia, Isotta will present: “From Classroom to Core: Bridging the Gap Between Education and Open Source”
In this talk, she will explore how open source can become a meaningful part of education. Through the WordPress Credits program, students are able to turn academic requirements into real contributions, gaining experience while actively participating in the ecosystem.
The session will also dive into how structured contribution models and mentorship can lower the barrier to entry, making it easier for students to move from learning about WordPress to actually contributing to it.
